The faculty of Jiva Public School has played a vital
role in shaping its quintessential spirit. Each faculty
member is both a teacher, an expert in his or her own
field as well as a guide for the students. The faculty
at JPS consists of 75 full time highly qualified
teachers, who have extensive teaching experience in
their respective fields.
The teachers are emblematic of JPS culture and ethos,
which is the thread that binds the entire teaching
fraternity of the JPS community. This academic community
not only imparts instruction through the regular
teaching periods, but also engages students in a variety
of activities, that instills both team spirit as well as
leadership qualities in them.
Lesson Plan
Teachers at Jiva realize that time is precious, and that
it must be utilized fully to bring out the best results.
They take on the full mantle of creating environments
that are conducive to learning. For this reason, each
teacher creates a lesson plan that clearly defines her
learning objectives, activities, appropriate questions,
examples and home-school connection. The lesson plans
(complete with a gamut of activities along with the
Multiple Intelligences and Multiple Natures used) help
teachers make the most out of the contact time with the
students.
The Kindergarten teachers plan their day minutely to a
five minute slot keeping the children engaged with equal
energy throughout the day.
Activity Calendar
All Jiva teachers plan out various culminating
activities that they perform at the end of each month,
which are connected to their subject objectives. These
include conducting elections, outside expeditions to
local places of interest, exhibitions, interviews and
surveys in the neighbourhood.
Portfolios
Portfolios are collections of students’ work
representing a selection of their performances. Jiva has
introduced ‘student portfolios’ this year to enable them
to develop as whole learners. They would get an
assessment of themselves while they explore the
environment around them. It is hoped that such
portfolios would teach the students to represent
themselves to the world, not only academically but also
through their skills and strengths and would increase
their chances of creating opportunities for themselves
and get the best jobs.
